Abstract

Temperature and weather anomalies pose a significant threat to public health and the economy. The paper presents a critical comparison of research methodologies on the fixation of temperature waves and their impact on the population. Selected works published over the last century and a half in Russia and abroad are considered. The author's periodization of the history of the study of the issue is given. The structural components of the problem are considered. The change in the focus of researchers' attention from meteorology to epidemiology and conclusions for social policy is shown.
