Opening remarks

Dear readers!

We are proud to bring to your attention a special issue of the Electronic Journal of the Faculty of Economics of Lomonosov Moscow State University.

This issue includes articles that analyze the views of Nobel laureates in economics: a specialist in global economic relations R. Mundell, a representative of the third generation of neo-institutionalism B. Holmström, a creator of endogenous growth models P. Romer, a prominent representative of modern development theory E. Duflo, as well as economists-mathematicians E. Maskin, R. Myerson, E. Roth and R. Wilson. The views of the influential Japanese economist H. Yoshikawa are also interpreted.

The special issue presents an overview of the plenary meeting held on December 8–10, 2021 in an online format at the Faculty of Economics of Lomonosov Moscow State University International Scientific Conference "Russia Under the Onslaught of New Realities: Civilization, Society, Economy", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the faculty. The conference was organized by the Research Laboratory of Philosophy of Economics together with the scientific council of the Center for Social Sciences of Moscow State University. At the plenary session, presented reports examined the state and prospects of Russian society, the economy, and Russian civilization as a whole from various points of view.
