Abstract

The article explores the development of the Russian timber market under the conditions of sanctions pressure. Based on statistical data, the authors analyze the impact of sanctions on the Russian timber market and determine its development prospects. It is revealed that the market is undergoing significant structural changes in the current conditions, influenced by a group of factors. It is emphasized that Russia holds a leading position in the world in terms of forest area, as the largest owner of continuous forests, which makes the country play an important role in the global timber market. The authors identify the main factors influencing the development of the Russian timber market. An important part of the study is the assessment of timber exports and imports. In particular, the analysis of key export areas was carried out, and the consequences of reduced supplies to traditional markets were identified. The article also examines Russia's dependence on imported wood products. It is determined that despite the sanctions pressure, the Russian wood market demonstrates significant potential for transformation and growth. Russian exporters are adapting to the new conditions of international trade by searching for alternative markets. The development of deep wood processing is particularly important to compensate for the losses caused by export restrictions and meet domestic needs in the face of reduced imports.
